Doulos Discovery School transforms students into leaders. Through expeditionary learning and Christian discipleship our students will impact the Dominican Republic and beyond. Doulos prepares students to think critically and compassionately to create solutions for the lingering problems of a developing country and a broken world.
Doulos is a Christian non profit, K-12 private school working with Dominican students through a rigorous college preparatory program to equip revolutionary leaders who desire to serve and bring positive change to their community/nation. We believe that leaders are born into every social class. For this reason, half of our student body is on need-based scholarships. With academic rigor and service to the community, Doulos is preparing over 200 students to be leaders in the fields of government, business, medicine, education, engineering, and ministry.
The dream for Doulos is not just to be the best private school in the Dominican Republic, but instead a successful model for other public and private schools to follow. Our hope is to continue giving children the opportunity to reach their fullest potential, and ultimately creating compassionate leaders with hearts for revitalizing their nation and bringing faith, hope and love to all of God’s kingdom.

The Dominican Republic has the lowest investment in education in Latin America and the Caribbean with only 1.9 percent of its GDP invested in public education. Only 50 percent of children that enroll in primary education complete the first four years; 22 percent finish the full eight-year primary education program, and just 10 percent finish high school. 1% of the Dominican population goes to college, and the gap between the few who are wealthy and the majority who are poor continues to grow. Problems with government corruption, a vastly uneducated population, outstanding foreign debt, and a lack of infrastructure continue to keep the country in poverty. These persistent and complex problems call for new solutions. The Doulos Discovery School exists to equip future leaders with minds for creative problem solving, and hearts for serving others compassionately.

The mission of Doulos is immediately impacting the lives of our 230 students and 85 families. Through student service to the community, the town of Jarabacoa is presently being impacted and transformed in dynamic and beautiful ways. As our students graduate, go on to universities and eventually enter the work force, the possibilities for them to make an even greater impact on the world are exponential. To carry out this vision we need to create 10 new classrooms to meet the growing needs of our program and to ensure that the next generation of revolutionary leaders is well equipped for changing their country and the world. Each classroom will cost $25,000.
